Every November, NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) challenges writers and would-be writers to pen 50,000 words in 30 days. In 2016 I signed up to jump-start my since-published memoir, Facing Sunset. That year I only managed 31,148 words. The year after, working on yet another draft, I pumped out 41,363.
This year? Standing at my desktop Mac, I typed 65,513 words. Whoot!
Okay, maybe I cheated. Those 65,000+ words were transcribed from my 2021 daily journal. But NaNoWriMo allows for personal goals. I met mine: flexing my fingers into an almost daily regime to inspire my next project--the chronicles of Crazy Horse. Not only are my hands now in shape, but reviewing how far my horse and I have come inspires me to keep going.
With six and a half more months to transcribe, I'm on my way. We'll see where I end up...it took me eight drafts in five years to complete Facing Sunset.

I can't wait for this one to go to print.
You have me considering writing about my new undertaking...
Congratulations! No doubt you will reach your goal. And I'm looking forward to reading the chronicles of Crazy Horse!
