Juice from Chambourcin and Chancellor grapes (hybrid varieties locally grown) aged four years and two months in an oak barrel and three more years in a stainless steel tank. In late October, we bottled 49 cases of the sweet red wine, long absent from Rose Valley Winery's shelves.

Steve-the-vintner said, "Getting this out of the tank was on my bucket list." He described the popular wine's flavor as "port-like, rich, with hints of plum and chocolate."

"Loon Lake" fermented two years longer than my book, Facing Sunset. The bold character of both wine and words makes for a perfect pairing, especially on a wet and dreary fall day.

A woman wearing a purple and pink flannel shirt, jeans, glasses, and a teal baseball cap sits in a blue chair in front of a fireplace mounting on a wood wall. She smiles at the camera, holding a book with the title "Facing Sunset" in one hand, and a glass of dark red wine in the other. A wine barrel next to her sports a bottle of wine.
Cheers!

Grab a bottle and a book, and dream of adventures. Both are available at the winery's tasting rooms in Rose City and West Branch, Michigan.

A full-bodied vivid pairing.
